Chautauqua Lake Cleanup May 18th
The Conewango Creek Watershed Association is partnering with Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy, Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District and the Chautauqua Lake Association to hold the Fifth Chautauqua Lake Cleanup.
The Annual Cleanup will be held:
- Day/Date: Saturday, May 18, 2019
- Registration: 8 to 8:30 am.
- Safety Talk: 8:30 am
- Cleanup Starts: 9 am and the event will end by 2 pm.
- Location: Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association at 9 Chadakoin Avenue, Celoron, NY.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Volunteers can work on-land or on-water. Volunteers can participate in the entire event or any portion of it. Volunteers are required to sign a waiver, check-in and check-out at the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association in Celoron, NY.
Pre-registration is required. Volunteers can pre-register by Clicking on the tab near the top of the page called “Chautauqua Lake Cleanup Registration,” complete the form and submit it online. Registrations will ensure there will be enough food and boats. You may also pre-register by call our office at 814-726-1441. Please provide the following information: Name, phone number, email, No. of people you are registering, whether you want to work on land or water. If you will work on water: are you bringing your own boat or need to borrow a boat (canoe).
Children must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Waivers for children must be signed by their parent or legal guardian, which can also be found at the tab near the top of the page titled “Volunteer Waiver Forms.” Please note, there is a waiver for adults and one for children. Each person must fill out their own waiver form. For quicker registration, please print the waivers out ahead of time, fill them out completely and bring them with you to the event.
Coffee and doughnuts will be provided in the morning and a hot dog lunch will be provided at 1 to 2 pm by the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association. We will be out rain or shine so please dress for the weather. Wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Other desired items to bring would be a hat, sunscreen, insect repellant, rain coat, warm layers, water and snacks as well as any medications, or personal items you may need. Gloves and plastic bags will be provided. Be prepared to get wet and muddy.
CCWA reserves the right to cancel or change the cleanup event for any reason due to unforeseen circumstances. CCWA also reserves the right to turn people away if they are not dressed appropriately or appear unsuitable for the activity. Normally only stormy, or severe weather will cause the event to be canceled or have a delay in the starting time. Rain alone will not cause the event to be cancelled
Boats are limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served pre-registration basis. We cannot guarantee a boat for everyone. So pre-register early.
