The Conewango Creek Watershed Association is holding their Eleventh Annual Conewango Creek Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019. Everyone is welcome to attend. Participants are asked to meet at the Front Street Boat Launch located at 3 Front Street, Warren, PA by 8am for registration and should be on the water or going to their on-land sites by 9 am with the event ending by 2 pm.
Volunteers can work on-land or on-water and can participate in the entire event or any portion of it. Preregistration for the event is preferred. Registrations will ensure there will be enough food and boats. Volunteers can go to www.conewangocreek.org and click on the tab towards the top of the page labeled “Conewango Creek Registration” to register and follow the link for registration to complete the required forms. There is also a tab called “waivers.” Waivers for adults and children are also required and can be found on the website. Children must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. The waivers for children must be signed by their parent or legal guardian. For quicker registration, please print the waivers out ahead of time, fill them out completely and bring them with you to the event. Volunteers will be required to check-in and check-out at the Front Street boat launch at 3 Front St., Warren, PA. You can also pre-register by calling the CCWA Office at 814-726-1441.
Coffee and doughnuts will be provided in the morning and a hot dog lunch will be provided from 1 to 2 pm at Front Street boat launch. We will be out rain or shine, only high creek levels or stormy weather will cause the event to be canceled or have a delay in the starting time. Please dress for the weather. Long pants are highly recommended and closed-toe shoes are required. Other desired items to bring would be a hat, sunscreen, insect repellant, rain coat, warm layers, water and snacks as well as any medications you may need. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided. Be prepared to get wet and muddy.
Boats will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot guarantee a boat for everyone so register early. The section of the creek we will be cleaning is from the Big Four launch on Big Four Road to the Front Street launch on Front Street. Please tell us upon arrival if you need us to provide documentation required to report volunteer and services hours.
