Water Chestnut covers Big Pond at Audubon.

Lunch provided

CCWA is supporting Jamestown Audubon Center and Sanctuary to help remove an invasive species in our watershed.

Water Chestnut threatens our lakes and ponds. It has a strong foothold on Big Pond at Jamestown Audubon. Sign up to help on June 15th with eradication efforts, or to offer your assistance to adopt a plot for monitoring.

Water Chestnut is a plant that is not native to the area. If allowed to spread, it will crowd out the native vegetation and cover our waters with a mat of vegetation.

Contact Katie Finch at kfinch@jamestownaudubon.org  or (716) 569-2345 ext. 39 to register for the June 15th pull.

If you are interested in adopting a plot of Big Pond to Monitor or helping train volunteers on June 15, please attend a team leader training.

Sunday, June 9, 2013 3:00om  or Monday, June 10 6:30pm.

Contact Ruth Lundin at rlundin@jamestownaudubon.org or (716) 569-2345 ext. 22 for more information or to register for a team leader training.

A major, multi-year effort is needed to remove it.  Scroll down for more pictures.
